How AQA GCSE Physics is examined

AQA GCSE Physics (8463) is assessed by two written papers of 1 hour 45 minutes, each worth 100 marks and 50% of the grade. Paper 1 covers energy, electricity, the particle model of matter and atomic structure. Paper 2 covers forces, waves, magnetism and electromagnetism, and space physics (Separate Science only). Both tiers are available and a physics equation sheet is provided in the exam.

Combined Science: Trilogy students sit two physics papers of 1 hour 15 minutes (70 marks each) drawn from the same topics, without space physics and the other Separate only content. The equations you must recall and the ones given on the sheet are marked in every topic.

Each topic below is a complete set of illustrated notes with the key ideas, every equation and its units, worked examples, required practicals, common mistakes and a quick check. The first topic, Energy, is free.
