How AQA GCSE Chemistry is examined
AQA GCSE Chemistry (8462) is assessed by two written papers of 1 hour 45 minutes, each worth 100 marks and 50% of the grade. Paper 1 covers atomic structure and the periodic table, bonding and structure, quantitative chemistry, chemical changes and energy changes. Paper 2 covers rates of reaction, organic chemistry, chemical analysis, the atmosphere and using resources. Foundation and Higher tiers are available.
Combined Science: Trilogy students sit two chemistry papers of 1 hour 15 minutes (70 marks each) on the same ten topics without the Separate Science only content. Quantitative chemistry and rates carry the calculation marks, so our notes give every equation with a worked example.
